ABOUT THE PUBLICATION
The Most Massive Woman was first performed in 1994 at the New York Young Playwright’s Festival, “The Most Massive Woman Wins” is now recognized as a groundbreaking play on the subject of women’s bodies in society. The script is an excruciatingly honest examination of the feelings of a population constantly being silenced and that is seldom taken seriously. It speaks to the core of our personal feelings of inadequacy and asks why we punish ourselves for our imperfections.”
ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT
Madeleine George’s plays have been developed or staged at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center, New York Theatre Workshop, The Playwrights’ Center, New Dramatists, the Cherry Lane Alternative, HERE, Playwrights Horizons, and the Public Theatre. Support includes a MacDowell Fellowship, the Princess Grace Playwriting Award, a Manhattan Theatre Club Playwriting Fellowship, and the Jane Chambers Award. Madeleine was featured in the 1993 and 1994 Young Playwrights Festivals, and she holds an MFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU. She lives in Queens, NY.
